Biography

Anita is currently the Chief Executive Officer of MySDG Foundation, which was incorporated in 2022 to support the Government of Malaysia in accelerating the sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the country. One of the Foundation’s key function is the oversight of the Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund (Fund), which supports projects that target people and communities who are at risk of being left behind within the SDG framework.

Prior to MySDG Foundation, Anita was the Head for Community Development and Humanitarian Disaster Response in Hasanah Foundation, a foundation of Khazanah Nasional Berhad. 

Anita has also held positions in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Malaysia and the NGO MERCY Malaysia. At the UN, she supported the Government of Malaysia in developing and advocating policies on gender equality as well as the rights of indigenous people and persons with disabilities. At MERCY, she coordinated and implemented humanitarian projects in Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Syria and Jordan amongst others. 

In 2017, Anita was awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship and the John S. Wolf Fellowship during which time she spent two months in the US understanding different organisations’ approaches to community development. She has a masters’ degree in social development (as a Chevening scholar) and a bachelors’ degree in law, from the UK.
