Mejar (Dr) Ahmad Faidhi bin Mohd Zaini is a distinguished Malaysian medical officer, military serviceman, and Islamic scholar. Born on January 1, 1986, in Kelantan, Malaysia, Dr. Ahmad Faidhi has built a multifaceted career that uniquely combines medical expertise, military service, and Islamic scholarship.
Dr. Ahmad Faidhi's educational journey reflects his diverse interests and commitment to both secular and religious knowledge. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Cyberjaya in 2012. Prior to his medical studies, he undertook a Foundation of Medicine program at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) from 2005 to 2007. Notably, he also completed a Tahfiz Al-Quran program with IIUM/JAKIM in 2004-2005, demonstrating his dedication to Islamic studies from an early age. In 2021, he further enhanced his religious scholarship by obtaining a Master's degree in Quranic and Hadith Studies from Universiti Islam Malaysia (UIM).
Dr. Ahmad Faidhi's professional career spans both military and civilian medical service. He began his career as a Medical Officer at Hospital Putrajaya from 2012 to 2014. In 2015, he joined the Malaysian Armed Forces, serving with the Para Medical Company of the 10th Para Brigade in Melaka until 2018. He then moved to the Tuanku Mizan Military Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, where he worked in the Department of Anesthesiology and Operating Theatre from 2018 to 2020. Since December 2020, he has been pursuing specialist training in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ahmad Faidhi has been actively involved in various professional and community organizations. He is a founding member of Medical Mythbusters Malaysia (M3) and has served as an EXCO member since 2024. He has also been a coordinator for Fiqh Medicine with the Islamic Medical Association Malaysia (IMAM) since 2022. His expertise in medical ethics and Islamic jurisprudence has led to his appointment as a consultant and expert panel member for various fatwa committees on health and medicine issues.
Dr. Ahmad Faidhi's commitment to humanitarian causes is evident in his participation in several medical missions. He has provided medical support during the Yemen Operation in Saudi Arabia (2015), served in the Malaysian Pilgrim's Hajj mission (2017), and worked at the Malaysian Field Hospital in Cox's Bazar for Rohingya refugees (2018).
As an educator and public speaker, Dr. Ahmad Faidhi regularly conducts lectures and talks on topics ranging from medical ethics and vaccination to Quranic exegesis and Islamic sciences. He has authored several books, including works on medical jurisprudence, vaccination policies, and compilations of medical cases. He is also a prolific writer, having contributed to various journals and magazines.
Dr. Ahmad Faidhi's contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia (P.P.S) from the Malaysian Armed Forces in 2023 and the Alumni Excellence Award from CUCMS in 2017. He has also earned military distinctions such as the Combat Parachute Jump Wing in 2016.
On a personal note, Dr. Ahmad Faidhi is married to Dr. Farin Masra, a pediatrician at HPKK, UKM. They have four children: Fahad al-Harith, Fadwa al-Hani, Fayyad al-Hadi, and Fawzia al-Haya.
